The first cheap and warm October destination on our list is Sarandë, one of the world’s best hidden-gem beach destinations. Despite offering tourists an average October temperature of 73°F (23°C) and average daily travel costs below $100, this coastal resort on Albania’s breathtaking Riviera is surprisingly unpopular. We want to change that.
This gorgeous seaside resort offers waterfront accommodation, traditional Albanian cuisine, pristine beaches, and scenic coastal walks. When not sunbathing on the beach or sipping a cocktail by the pool, explore the city’s best attractions and cruise along the majestic Albanian Riviera. You don’t want to miss Saranda Beach, Mango Beach, Lëkurësi Castle, and Saranda Embankment.

Rome, Italy
If you’re more city break than beach getaway, look no further than Rome. This historic city is arguably the best in the world for a city break. It’s undoubtedly one of the most iconic. You’ll find many of the world’s most famous attractions here, including the iconic Colosseum. Better yet, in October, temperatures in Rome hit a delightful 72°F (22°C).

Phuket is a vibrant city on Phuket Island in Central Thailand. It’s best known for its stunning Old Town, lively nightlife, and beautiful beaches. In October, the city experiences daily highs of 90°F (32°C). Meanwhile, the average daily travel cost is only $111. This makes Phuket one of the world’s best places for an autumn escape.
During your time in the city, you’ll relax on the beach, swim in the sea, explore the Old Town, eat local food at one of the many food markets, and party hard on the strip. Nice, a coastal city in Southern France, offers you the best of every possible world. When you’re not soaking up the sun on one of the city’s 20 public beaches, you’ll find yourself dining in a Michelin-starred restaurant, enjoying a walk along the seafront promenade, and discovering the city’s best attractions.
For the best sun, sea, and sand, visit Plage Public de l’Opéra. This beach offers a breathtaking stretch of golden coastline and beautiful waters. In the city center, make sure you visit Cathédrale Saint-Nicolas de Nice, Marché Aux Fleurs, Marc Chagall National Museum, and Place Masséna. For affordable luxury, delicious Malaysian cuisine, tropical landscapes, and crystal-clear turquoise waters, visit Langkawi, a small island off Malaysia’s northwest coast. This tropical island is one of my favorite places in the world. Everything about it, from the island’s white sand beaches and lush rainforests to fascinating landmarks and laid-back atmosphere, is out of this world.
Of course, temperatures above 86°F (30°C) also add to the island’s allure. An average daily travel cost below $100 also helps. Some of my all-time favorite places in Langkawi include Pantai Cenang, the Langkawi Sky Bridge, Seven Wells Waterfall, and Dataran Lang. Langkawi is also a great place to try something new, such as jet skiing, quad biking, and scuba diving.

Unfortunately, Greece isn’t the warmest destination in Europe in October, but there are still a few places where we can experience the warm weather before it disappears for winter. One of the most affordable is Rhodes, where the average daily travel cost is $149. The largest of the Dodecanese Islands, Rhodes is a fabulous destination jam-packed with picture-perfect beaches, authentic Greek towns, and historical gems.

In October, you can enjoy everything the island offers while experiencing temperatures as high as 75°F (24°C). Whether you stay in Pefkos, Lindos, Rhodes City, or Faliraki, you’ll find many things to do on the island. However, some main highlights include Rhodes Old Town, Elli Beach, Lindos Acropolis, and Faliraki Waterpark.

Kefalonia, Greece
Another top choice in Greece in October is Kefalonia, an island in the Ionian Sea famed for its white sand beaches, vibrant coastal villages, traditional houses, and fascinating historical landmarks. There’s so much to see on the island that I recommend hiring a car. This will allow you to see more of the island’s breathtaking locations.
Must-visit attractions in Kefalonia include Melissani Cave, Fteri Beach, Myrtos Beach, and the Sacred Monastery of Agios Gerasimos of Kefalonia. Meanwhile, Sami, Asos, Argostoli, and Skala are popular places to stay. In October, Kefalonia offers an average daily temperature of 73°F (23°C). The island’s average daily travel cost can be as low as $112.

Dominican Republic
Because of their location in the Caribbean, places like the Dominican Republic are often associated with high prices and expensive luxuries. However, not every Caribbean island costs an arm and a leg to visit. For example, the average daily travel cost in the Dominican Republic is only $145. Better yet, the average temperature in October ranges between 77°F (25°C) and 84°F (29°C).
In the Dominican Republic, you can escape the daily grind. Don’t be afraid to spend your vacation kicking back on the beach, floating in the turquoise waters, or sipping cocktails by the pool.
