Skytrax recently released its report on assessing airport cleanliness based on passenger feedback. The airports were judged based on cleanliness across facilities like seating areas, restrooms, flooring, and other public spaces.

Flughafen Zuerich, Switzerland

Flughafen Zuerich is the only European airport that made this year’s list. Zurich Airport, the largest international airport in Switzerland, is among the busiest airports in Europe, with 28.9 million passengers passing through its doors in 2023. Despite high foot traffic, the airport maintains its cleanliness through the help of two robots, “Zulu” and “Charlie.”

Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, Taiwan

Located in the township of Taoyuan City, the airport serves as a significant transport hub for its Southeast Asian and East Asian neighbors. In 2023, the airport served over 35.35 million passengers, which is around 73% of its traffic before the pandemic. To further accommodate its increasing number of passengers, Taoyuan International Airport has upgraded its facilities, such as takeaway areas and dining facilities.

Hong Kong International Airport, China

Next on our list is Hong Kong’s doorway to international travelers, Chek Lap Kok International Airport. The airport served over 40 million passengers in 2023, more than half of the pre-pandemic figures recorded. Hong Kong International Airport is also one of the busiest cargo airports, with over 4.3 million tons of cargo handled in 2023.

Kansai International Airport, Japan

The airport receives over 30 million passengers a year. Despite being Japan’s seventh busiest airport, Kansai International Airport has never lost a piece of luggage in the past 30 years.

Tokyo-Narita International Airport, Japan
