The UK has it all in autumn, from picturesque landscapes adorned with fall foliage to fall festivals and events. If anything, you’ll struggle to decide where to stay.

To show you what you’re missing, I’ve compiled a list of 12 of the best UK cities for fall. Keep reading if you’re looking for a weekend city break in the United Kingdom, jam-packed with exciting activities, beautiful scenery, fall foliage, and an autumnal atmosphere.

Situated where the River Ness meets the Moray Firth, this beautiful city offers travelers abundant natural beauty and access to some of Scotland’s most scenic landscapes.

For starters, Loch Ness, home to the legend of the Loch Ness Monster, is just a short drive from the city. In the fall, Inverness’ scenery displays vibrant yellow, red, orange, and green foliage, creating the perfect atmosphere for an autumn escape. I’ve been to Bristol multiple times in the fall, and it never disappoints. This southwest England city is a glorious sight throughout the year, but iconic attractions like Clifton Suspension Bridge look even more spectacular in the fall when a cold mist descends, and the leaves turn fiery orange and red.

When not admiring the fall foliage from Clifton Suspension Bridge or walking along tree-lined streets, enjoy classic grub in a traditional British pub, explore the Old City, and stroll along the harborside.
