Provincial Domain Huizingen is one of the most beloved ones and closest to Brussels. Playgrounds, mini cars, trampolines, farm animals, forest, outdoor pools for kids, even a little train to take you around the domain: It has everything!
The castle
The castle with the lake is beautiful and there is a restaurant there too. The domain is 91 hectares, 55 of which is a forest with hiking trails (with wood daffodils and bluebells!). There are also a few statues and play structures
Playgrounds
There are two playgrounds, one for younger kids (sandpit) and one for older ones (10+ years old). This is the playground for younger kids

Farm animals
There are also farm animals, like horses, sheep, goats, chickens (and deer!). These are in the meadows and there is also a small enclosure where you can walk around
A little train goes around the domain (places for two wheelchairs, EUR 1.50 per person)
Swimming pool – CLOSED PERMANENTLY
There was a swimming pool that is now closed permanently.
Mini cars
There are also mini cars (4-10 years old, EUR 1 for two laps) and mini golf (as of 8 years old, EUR 2 per person)
Rock garden
The 5 hectares rock garden ‘Bloemendal’ with many flowers and plants, a stream and a small waterfall at its start
There are also sports facilities: tennis courts (March 1 to October 31), multisport, athletics track (+ showers), football field (+ showers), fishing pond. There are pedal boats and rowing boats (EUR 5 per half an hour)
Practical stuff
*Open: The domain opens at 09.00 and the closing time varies around the year (April to September at 20.00, October and March at 18.30, November to February at 17.00)
*The domain is free in the winter, there is an entrance fee 01.04-30.09
*Cost: kids < 3 free entrance, 4-12 years old EUR 1.50, EUR 2.50 for adults that live in Flemish Brabant, EUR 4.00 for adults that do not live in Flemish Brabant
*You need your ID card to enter!!
*The swimming pool and certain attractions (mini cars, rowing boats, mini-train and pedalos) are charged extra on top of the entrance fee
*There is a restaurant, a cafeteria and a frituur next to the playground for younger kids, so you can enjoy a drink while the kids are playing
*There are also two hikers’ cabins where up to 4 people can stay overnight for EUR 50 per night. This is possible between 01.03-31.10 and for a maximum of 3 nights
*Stroller friendly, wheelchair friendly
*Toilets near the playground
*Dogs are allowed on a leash
