Egkremnoi, Lefkada, Greece

12 Exotic Beaches Egremni, Lefkada, Greece

Egkremnoi Beach is a stunning stretch of coastline on Lefkada Island (also known as Lefkas) in the Ionian Sea, Greece. It is famed for its breathtaking beauty, pristine waters, and remote location at the base of towering limestone cliffs.

The untouched environment and the relaxed atmosphere make it the perfect destination for tourists looking for tranquility by the sea. The limited commercial activities and development make it even more tranquil.

I have been to many beautiful beaches, from the Caribbean to Southeast Asia, but Egkremnoi remains one of my favorites. Full disclosure: my father comes from Lefkada, and I have been spending several summers there—a look at the photo should explain that while I’m slightly biased, this is one of the top beaches across the globe.

It is mainly accessible by a series of steep stairs carved into the cliffside. You will have to walk about a mile (1.6 kilometers) from the parking lot, then climb down 400 steps. While at it, enjoy the charming panoramic views from the cliff tops.

Do not attempt to climb up the stairs while it’s still hot; it is extremely tiring. If you are not fit enough, take a boat from Vasiliki to see Egkremnoi and Porto Katsiki on one tour.
